Vatikim (60+ programming)
Vatikim is a program for seniors, age 60 and up. It includes a weekly lunch and learn on various topics ranging from self-care to history to entertainment. Our Rabbis provide content, as well as outside visitors and experts. Each weekly lunch and learn program features a speaker or entertainment, a KOSHER buffet, and great company all for $5 a person.
We have occasional day trips, sometimes in partnership with Temple Emanuel’s Friendship Circle or with Beth David’s Sisterhood.
Vatikim also has an exceptional weekly knitting group, which makes items for local hospitals, hospice, and Urban Ministries. Proudly they made over 50 blankets for Hospice, 300 newborn baby hats, 250 hats for cancer patients and 20 scarves for Greensboro Urban Ministries and the IRC. They are currently involved in the “Operation Bedroll” Project run by the City of Greensboro and making “plarn” faster than one can explain what it is made of.
Vatikim is possible by a generous grant from the BJH Foundation.
